The President and the Chief Executive Officer of the Belgian Red Cross (Flanders), Ms. Christ’l Joris and Dr. (Prof.) Phillppe Vandekerckhove, respectively, were on a two day visit to India. During their sojourn they held discussions with the Secretary General of the Indian Red Cross Society, Dr. S.P. Agarwal, met Heads of the Regional Delegations of the IFRC, ICRC and the heads of the India offices of the IFRC, Canadian, German and Spanish Red Cross.
The visiting dignitaries expressed interest in collaboration in the field of First Aid, Blood Services and Disaster Management issues.
Dr. S.P. Agarwal, in his intervention, also proposed partnership with Belgian Red Cross (Flanders) on the home health care attendant course to be started by IRCS Nhq.
Ms. Christ’l Joris, President, in her address said that Red Cross is a movement which is being managed impressively by all its stake holders. She exuded optimism on greater cooperation between the two national societies.
Dr. (Prof.) Phillppe Vandekerckhove in his speech talked of professionalization in Red Cross activities and bigger role for Belgian Red Cross (Flanders) in humanitarian activities in India. |
