Indian Red Cross responds to the Dengue Outbreak

The number of dengue cases crossed the 1000-mark today in the capital with the death toll at 23 and 72 fresh cases being reported.
The Blood Bank of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) is working round-the-clock and is preparing the platelet concentrate and plasma for infusion to patients.
From September 22nd 2006 till October 10th, 2006 the Blood Bank has collected 2842 blood units and prepared 2380 units of platelet concentrates. 802 units have been issued to Government Hospitals and 916 units to Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes in Delhi and NCR.
The Blood Bank of the IRCS is in readiness to meet the needs of the patients in the NCR.
