Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Agarwal, Secretary General has been appointed a member of the International Federation’s Sustainable Development and Health Advisory Body. His name was recommended by Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chairman, IRCS and Minister for Health & Family Welfare for the position to the Federation Headquarters in Geneva.
On the recommendation of the Election Committee, the Governing Board, at its
21st session (19-21 May 2010), appointed eight individuals to serve on each of the Advisory Bodies as well as identified the chairs and vice-chairs. As per the Terms of Reference of the Advisory Bodies, the chair is expected to attend Governing Board meetings when requested to do so.
The members of the Sustainable Development and Health Advisory Body appointed by the Governing Board are as follows:

- Mr. Elio Garrido Alvarez (Cuba)
- Dr. Carlos F. Vera Urdapilleta (Paraguay)

- Dr. Nenad Javornik (Croatia)
- Mr. James Cochrane (UK) - Vice Chair
The Sustainable Development and Health Advisory Body will focus on Strategic
Aim 2, which is to “enable healthy and safe living”, taking into consideration the linkages with the other strategic aims and enabling actions established in Strategy 2020. |
