This year some parts of the country are witnessing heavy monsoon rains, which have so far engulfed the lives of 2117 people, affected a population of 410.7 lakh, loss of 90194 livestock, damaged crop area of 5038060 hectares and demolished 370862 houses in 36025 villages of 225 Districts. The total economic loss is to the tune of Rs. 638436.57 (lakhs).*
