World Red Cross Day is observed on 8th of May every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of the founder of the Red Cross, Mr Jean Henry Dunant. The theme for celebrations this year is, “Everywhere for everyone”.
The Indian Red Cross Society, together with its partners, i.e. the ICRC and the IFRC has decided to organize on line activities such as essay, photography and painting competition among Junior Red Cross members, Youth Red Cross members and others. The entries shall be judged by a panel of judges and the three winners from each category may be invited to come to Delhi and collect their certificate/prize.
1. Topic for essay
Volunteerism as a force for positive change in human behavior (max 500 words)

This segment is open to all Indian nationals.
2. Topic for photography competition
Volunteerism: Everywhere for Everyone
Entries should be mailed on : photographycompetition@indianredcross.org
Open to all Indian nationals.
Entries from professional photographers shall not be considered.
3. Topic for Painting competition
Volunteerism: Everywhere for Everyone
Entries (scanned) should be mailed on : paintingcompetition@indianredcross.org
Entries shall be placed in to two categories of school children; first up to class 8 for Junior and, second up to class 12 for Youth. Organisers may check the credentials of the students.
Last date for receipt of all entrees : 21 April, 2016
Declaration of result : 1st May, 2016
Tentative date for prize distribution : 8th of May 2016
Following may also be noted by the contestants:
a. Only top three entries shall receive prize/certificate.
b. There is no entry fee.
c. Employees and family members of the Red Cross Movement are not eligible to participate.
d. Language : English
e. All entries shall become Red Cross property.
f. Only one entry per contestant is permitted.
g. Decision of the jury shall be final.
All the IRCS Red Cross branches are requested to disseminate the information widely for better response. Participation of junior and youth should, in particular, is encouraged.
All the contestants are supposed to send the entries directly through e mail to the IRCS National Headquarters on the designated email ids.
