Red Cross volunteers along with NDRF Team going for search n rescue for drowned kids in Imphal river, Manipur Heat Wave Responses and Campaigns across the States - Summer 2019 Indian RC Kachch district branch, Gujarat State, Heatwave campaign & response Indian Red Cross Society Srikakulam District Branch in the State of Andhra Pradesh conducted a heatwave awareness campaign in Srikakulam city as soon as the summer season began in March 2019. The attached photos show the campaign on March 19 at Srikakulam Old Bus Stand Junction, 7 Road Junction and other places on increasing heatwaves as part of climate change risk. The campaign targeted daily labours, agriculture labour and other people working outside. Do’s and don’ts were shared on how to save themselves from heat as part of their daily life and to prevent further health problems from heat waves. Indian Red Cross Society Vellore district branch in Tamil Nadu responded to heatwave in Vellore city when temperatures peaked above 40 deg C from the first week of March itself. The Indian Met department had issued an alert and the Dailies had carried the news to the people. Red Cross volunteers spread information and offered bottled buttermilk ( a local cooling drink made of fermented milk and water) and freshly cut, cool slices of watermelon to labourers, vendors and passers-by.
